Western Australia is Australia's largest state, covering the western third of the mainland, the capital is Perth.

It is the less contaminated and populated State in Australia in despite of its beautiful Coast and lanscapes, the Indian ocean from the sand beaches looks crystal clear. It is surprising how the West Coast is so less populated than the East one(Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns). The dry weither and the  infertility of the soil drove the first  settlers to go to the other side of the Country and start a new life there, leaving WA just as a big Port, being the closest to India and Africa and a jail.

I just have have one word for Western Australia....Paradise....This is what it looks like...It is calm, quiet, people are laid back (that's a bit of a must in Australia), it seems to be an holiday destination, but people actually live there all year!!!

I had the chance to stay only few days, it was really hot, i was staying in Freemantle, which is south from the city, it is a nice suburb, it looks surprisingly European, small streets, live Music Cafe's everywhere and of course .....Italian Restaurants!!

Western Australia e'lo Stato piu' grande in Australia, copre un terzo del suo territorio e la sua capitale e' Perth.

E' anche il meno popolato e contaminato nonostante le bellissime coste e paesaggi, l'oceano si infrange sulle spiagge di sabbia con un colore cristallino. Sono rimasto sorpreso a constatare che la costa Ovest sia molto meno abitata della costa est ( Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns). Il tempo asciutto e l'infertilita' dei terreni hanno spinto i primi colonizzatori ad installarsi presso l'altro lato del Paese e cominciare li una nuova vita, lasciando a Perth un grande Porto, essendo il piu' vicino ad India ed Africa e un carcere.

Ho solo una parola per descriverlo....Paradiso....Questo e' proprio cio' che sembra, calmo, tranquillo, le persone rilassate (questo accade ovunque in Australia), sembra una destinazione per vacanzieri, ma la gente del posto vive li tutto l'anno!!!

Ho avuto la fortuna di rimanere pochi giorni a Perth e dintorni, era caldissimo, stavo a Freemantle, un quartiere nella parte Sud della citta', sembrava incredibilmente Europeo, piccole stradine, caff' con musica dal vivo ovunque e....Ristoranti Italiani dappertutto!!!

St Kilda Festival

The St Kilda Festival is the biggest and most popular community festival held in Melbourne. Traditionally held on the second Sunday in February, the festival is about showcasing live Australian music, family and children's entertainment, beach activities and much more all presented in a carnival atmosphere.
The Festival attracts around 500.000 every year....It starts early in the morning and it goes on all day....As we did...;-)))

Il Festival di St Kilda e' il piu' grande e piu' popolare di Melbourne. Si celebra per tradizione la seconda domenica di febbraio, decine di band Australiane si esibiscono sui palchi allestiti in giro per il quartiere, divertimenti per famiglie e bambini, attivita' sulla spiaggia e tanto altro in un'atmosfera di carnevale.

Arrivano al festival circa 500.000 persone all' anno....Comincia il mattino e va avanti fino a notte fonda e noi siamo stati costretti a seguirlo...;-))
